My Dearest Love…

It’s hard to believe it’s been eight years that you and I have been together. Really honing in on that decade. I knew right then, walking through Meijer with your Vicodin and antibiotics in hand, that you were something special. I didn’t know and couldn’t have possibly imagined back then that we’d be where we are today. But I did know that once we got through your poor wisdom teeth adventure that our relationship would blossom. In the last eight years I feel like we’ve grown together and grown up together. We were so young when we started dating and ultimately when we got married we were bound to mature through our time together. In some cases for couples, that ends up being a bad thing. People grow up and grow apart. But I don’t feel like we have grown apart. If anything, today you’re 100% more my best friend than you were eight years ago. We’ve been through a lot together. And life isn’t always easy but it’s definitely worth it. And yes, that is one heckuva cheesy line and I do not care.

While it’s felt like there was never a time before us being together and it felt like we were married from the start, at this time… right now… seven years ago… you decided you liked me enough to stick with me through thick and thin. And I decided the same for you. We grabbed hands and vowed to be besties for life and I’m so glad we did and that we are. Getting married after one year of dating definitely has is positives and it’s negatives. Positives are we got to get started right away on our lives together and we didn’t waste a minute. Negatives are we PROBABLY didn’t know each other nearly as well as we thought we did. (Actually, not probably… definitely.) But as we’ve navigated these last seven years together we’ve learned more about each other and adapted. And I’m happy to say that so far no problem has been too big for us to not work together as a team and overcome it.

You are my team mate. My partner in crime. My bestie. My puzzle piece. My better half.

It’s nice to be back right where we started again. Although it kind of stinks that our anniversary is on Easter it’s kind of fun because the first time I met your family when we started dating was on Easter. It feels like everything has come full circle. And now eight years, a house, another wild and crazy kid, a bunch of maturing, a stronger friendship, and a life full of adventure later we’re right back here on Easter spending time together and with our family.

Thank you for journeying through this crazy life of ours with me. Thank you for always being my best friend. For always giving me the benefit of the doubt. Even when I drop allllllll of my junk RIGHT on the kitchen table as soon as I walk in the door. Thank you for putting up with my crazy ideas. Thank you for challenging me in ways I never expected and pushing me to be the best version of myself. And thank you for always encouraging me and allowing me to follow my dreams. I love you dear with all of my butt… (I’d say heart but my butt is bigger.) (Also, be careful cause there might be toots involved.)

Happy Anniversary honey. I can’t wait to cook, eat, drink, travel, snuggle, play, binge-watch, and enjoy the rest of this life with you.

Cheers to Eight Years. You’re my best friend.

Love,
Jackie
